Tips for Puerto Iguazu

Bife de Chorizo, El Tata, Puerto Iguazu, Argentine

Here are some tips about Puerto Iguazu just for you! This city is located at about 20km of the Iguazu falls (see this article). This has made Puerto Iguazu a very touristic place full of tourists. And thus Puerto Iguazu is much more expensive than other Argentine cities.

But even if it is full of tourists it is possible to find some cheap accommodation and to eat delicious meal.

We found many rooms rented by inhabitants very close to the terminal. This is always cheaper than hostels and other backpackers accommodations. From the terminal go up the avenue Guarani until the avenue H. Hirigoyen (after 2 or 3 blocks) and then turn right. After few houses you can ask for Alphonso, a very nice man which rents a room with bathroom and little kitchen. Some other families rent rooms in this area. You can often bargain the price. We had the room for 80 pesos, a very competitive price!

Now let’s talk about gastronomy! If you like beef meat then go straight to the restaurant “El Tata” in front of the terminal. They propose a “bife de chorizo” (a very thick sirloin) of 400-500 grammes which is absolutely delicious. They do not serve side dish with it but do not worry you would not be hungry after a so big piece of meat!
