La Rue Vibre !

Welcome to Piura, Perú (don’t try to say it fast!).
Piura is the first big city on the way from Ecuador, and is also the first city the Spanish founded in Peru.

Perú clearly deserves its reputation of being the Egypte of South America. The country is full of ruins of different civilizations which lived here. And not only the Inca, who ruled only for a century and half.
Before theim, massive civilizations lived, battled, influenced one each other, and we can track theses with the ceramics they used, including the ones find in Narihuala, close to Piura.

At first sight, mud is not the more durable building material, and yet you can still walk around the ancient ruins and foundations of buildings and place long ago gone. Around the place we saw strange dogs: nude peruvian dogs.

We liked in particular the museum because we were guided by Marie-Jésus, a local student who knows perfectly the site, and who led us then to the well furnished handicraft market of Catacaos.

People traditionally prepare an interesting beverage called Chicha. It’s made since centuries from cooked corn then fermented in big clay pot.
It’s curious to see how similar the vocabular used for the chicha is to the vocabular used for the vine, but after all, it’s all about fermentation.

When we arrived in Piura, workers were demonstrating on the main place. (No image as this can be dangerous for people).

We would have stayed with great pleasure a few more days in the hot weather of Piura, aking advantage of the great food, and maybe of the beaches in the surroundings, but Lima was calling us.
