Marché aux fleurs de Cuenca

After our exhausting trek on the Inca trail we found a rest in the beautiful colonial city of Cuenca. Its inhabitants say it is the most beautiful in Ecuador and we now know why ! Walking around in the paved streets of the city we discovered many cute churches, little parks and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains.

We also experimented the most important christmas parade of the country! See this report.
There are so many people in the streets and even at the market where people go shopping or even have lunch. It is like an important day for people coming from the mountains.

After the parade of the 24th of december the streets became completely empty and shops closed! We were used tostreets full of people and now we are in a fantom city.

Of course it was not easy to find a good restaurant for the christmas diner. But we found an italian one where we ate delicious pasta and antipastim not so good as fumed salmon and “foie gras”…

It is time to explain a misunderstanding about Panama hat. This hats do not come from Panama but from Ecuador. They are made of a special fiber which grows in Ecuador at a precise place! And it is not an easy things some of these hats take 3 months to be done!

As an end to this article we give you a little video of a musician’s group we saw in the street on the 24th of December. Enjoy!
