La Rue Vibre !

We are now in Oaxaca (pronounce Oaraca !) in South Mexico.

This city is really special. First it is the “most indian region” of Mexico which is very politically active.

The walls of Oaxaca are covered with postersand mottos.

Seriously, Oaxaca is a very touristic place, there is a wonderful museum in a completely restaured abbey, a beautiful cathedrale, nice colored houses, etc. The center is even listed UNESCO World Heritage site.

We also left a little the city to spend time in a little indian village (Cuajimoloyas) to hike and visit.

A indian guide came with us for the hiking and thanks to him we could taste medicinal plants. We also admired wonderful landscapes.

Then we were able to eat in the village where the food was cooked with a wood stove a lot alike those we admired in the old colonial houses.

The indian village somehow looked like a french traditional one, plus the cactuses.

We made the way back in the back of a small truck. Why spend time to disneyland attractions when you can go to Oaxaca!

We also visited Monte Alban which is a past pre-hispanic archaeological site, and which has sight over the valley of Oaxaca. Pyramids, temples, obelisks, astronomic observatories and even a solar clock (4m wide). Several civilisations lived there, each building on the ruins of the others.
